The ACCC (Australian Competition & Consumer Commission) has instituted proceedings in the Federal Court against the operator of RedHotPie.com.au, Jetplace Pty Ltd.

It alleges the operators of Red Hot Pie created and published fake profiles on its website and used them to send “flirts” and other messages to registered users.

After waiting more than an hour and a half for her date, a young lady decided she had been stood up. She changed from her dinner dress into pyjamas and slippers, fixed some popcorn and resigned herself to an evening of TV.

No sooner had she flopped down in front of the TV than her doorbell rang. There stood her date.
