Blink Speed Dating Review

Blink is the first dating site of it’s kind in Australia. Most matchmaking sites try and fix you up with closest matches via a complex database system, and then you are left to contact people of your choosing. With blink speed dating, the matching is done for you to a certain degree.

Let me explain the process.

Step 1 - Register for FREE to view events in your area and age group.

Step 2 - Choose an event that suits your timetable and preferences. Make payment online and your seat is reserved in real time.

Step 3 - Meet your host at the venue to receive further instructions. Relax, grab a drink and mingle.

Step 4 - “Date” your 10 singles for 7 minutes each.

A few simple rules are laid out. The ladies remain seated, and the guys spend 7 minutes with each lady before a timer goes off, and the next place is taken. After meeting 5 singles over 35 minutes - we break for half-time drinks and finger food for 15 minutes, before starting the process again for the final phase.

You are given a “match card”, so at the end of the evening you can indicate a yes / no for each person. These are confidential, and collected by the host at the end of the night.

Step 5 - Check your email - results are in within 48 hours. By default, only your email address will be disclosed to your Mutual Matches - if an email address is not available for a member, a mobile number will be provided. It’s always best to provide an email address so you can touch base with the person and take things further via email - handy if you can’t remember which person it is who you ticked a yes to, and need a little reminding!

I went to an event in Sydney, and met 10 guys in my age group. I was nervous at first, but the host and drinks soon put us all at ease.

Most of the guys were around my age, and from a variety of backgrounds. I found the first couple of “dates” quite a challenge as I’m not that outgoing ordinarily, but once you get the hang of it, and a few drinks under your belt, it soon becomes easier and fun. It would definitely pay to think of some good questions before going. They recommend you don’t talk about work, so that rules out an obvious one.

The break half way through was welcome, as were the complimentary drinks and canapes. By the 10th introduction, I was getting a little on the tired side! The match card process was useful - it’s best to fill it out right away in case you forget who you liked and who you weren’t so keen on.

The whole evening was a fun experience, and for $59, exceptional entertainment value.

To my pleasant surprise, I received an email the next day telling my that 70% of the guys wanted to see me again. Shame I was only there in the capacity of a reviewer!
